When the husband and wife team of John and Wendy Allen started their own haulage business in 1984 a 5-year old Volvo F10 was the only lorry they had. Operating out of their base at Cuckoo Bridge in Spalding, Lincolnshire they were soon hauling 24 hours a day; potatoes by day and cement tankers by night.

The business is very much a family affair with John as Managing Director ably assisted by fellow Directors, Kelvin (son), Vanessa (daughter) and younger brother Paul. Completing the family connection are Sharon (daughter) and her husband Steve. There are also three other family members who are employed in other capacities.

Paul's role is that of Transport Manager, Kelvin is Logistics Manager while Steve looks after the route planning. If demand requires, all the above are happy to get behind the wheel.

Transport is a way of life for the Allen family with John driving a Bedford Tipper for his father at the age of 17 years. Kelvin and Paul also started as soon as they were old enough. Having now clocked up more than 50 years driving experience between them, they are more than qualified to handle the running of this busy transport business.

Since those early days the business has gone from strength to strength, now operating a fleet of 23 tractor units and employing a staff of thirty who keep the business operating smoothly 24/7.
